Come Together

This year we are inviting you to “Come Together” to experience the thrill of live theatre. With so much going on in the world, we want to remind audiences what this really means, so in our season brochure we’ve asked members of our community to share what “Come Together” means to them.

For us, it is the thrill you get when you share great experiences with friends and loved ones. And there is a particular thrill that only comes from live performance. A live theatre show is a one-off moment in time that you share with an audience – no two performances are ever exactly the same, and that exact combination of audience members will never be together again either – it is a totally unique experience.

This year, we’ve selected a dynamic range of productions, with intriguing stories to enjoy, together, here in Wollongong.

Meet the people behind the faces on our brochure cover as they share what “Come Together” means to them…

“There is always a friendly atmosphere when attending a play or any show. Being a Season Ticket Holder keeps one connected to the community and coming together.”
Marie Mitchell-Stanley, Inner Circle Donor

“To me, Come Together means being together  with your friends doing something we all love.”
Ethan Green, The Strangeways Ensemble

“The reason I keep coming back is to see the reaction on our patrons’ faces, be it happy or sad. The camaraderie that happens between staff is awesome.”
Geoffrey Markham, Merrigong Volunteer

“The creatives and patrons of Merrigong come together to create real stories. My time here has shown me the importance of that connection when it comes to making a good show into a great one.”
Kay Proudlove, Writer and Performer

“Merrigong is an incredible place where the community can all come together to enjoy, witness and appreciate the different perspectives of art and performance.”
Sienna Karunarathne, Young People’s Program

“No art is ever done by oneself. The entire artistic process is an amalgamation of the people around you as you build a work. It’s something you could never reach locked away in a study, but as you come together within the theatre, the magic starts to once again spark.”
Nick Vagne, MERRIGONGX Artist

“Like the meeting place of a river, Come Together means many people from different areas find a way to proceed on the Land we share, celebrate, work and live on. All come to connect, celebrate and support each other.”
Danielle Moylan, Dunghutti/Gumbaynggirr Merrigong’s First Nations Engagement Coordinator
