A family friendly ballet full of magic and wonder
The Ballet Team (The Nutcracker 2016, Peter Pan 2018, Swan Lake.. But With Cows 2023), brings you The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, a symphonic ballet adaptation of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s 1797 poem Der Zauberlehrling, featuring Illawarra dancers.
A young Apprentice more interested in daydreaming than actually completing chores gets in to all sorts of enchanted trouble when his master, the Supreme Sorcerer, is called away on an important wizard summit. Getting a hold of an ancient spell book and magic wand, the Apprentice gets lost in the Sorcerer’s grand library, bringing to life all sorts of fictional characters that wreak havoc on the Castle. It’s up to the Apprentice to carefully clean up the magical mess he’s created.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice features a cast of over forty dancers and a chamber orchestra, with original music composed by Ryley Gillen and choreography by Meryl Papalos. This two act ballet is set to delight the whole family.
