Made From Scratch – June is packed with talented artists! Made From Scratch is a multi-artform performance night offering artists space and support to test new ideas in front of a live audience. 

The beauty is you get to experience a little bit of everything. These events will show case new works from local artists across performance, film, stand-up comedy, poetry, music, cabaret, circus and anything in between. 

The opportunity is open to independent artist and collectives working across theatre, dance, video/digital art, interdisciplinary performance, stand-up, poetry, music, cabaret and circus.

Line-up

Jordan Bowater – MC
Jordan Bowater is a devisor and performer with the Strangeways Ensemble and is the MC in The Strangeways Cabaret. Outside of theatre, Jordan is an avid musician, playing a myriad of instruments.

Alison Bennett – Hurrah Hurrah
Alison Bennett is a writer for theatre and screen with a background in clowning and collaborative theatre making, and a founding member of Hurrah Hurrah. Alison is performing Stash, a clown show for adults in the tradition of Chula the Clown and Gardi Hutter. It is a funny and sad exploration of the cumulative nature of solitude and social anxiety.

E.B.Tunes – Evzen Burda
Evzen Burda’s musical journey began with classical guitar, venturing into folk and modern music. Now, he pushes the boundaries of solo performance inspired by flamenco. With a minimalist approach, wielding his guitar, harmonica, and voice to create a captivating soundscape free from excessive electronics. Evzen will be performing unplugged, accompanied by his harmonica.

JOCEAN
Super rad. rhythmic and percussive, original live music & songs ranging from acoustic indie-folk and indie rock, to funk, soul & blues. JOCEAN will be performing a set of new songs.

Kris&Sarah R Us
Kris&Sarah R Us is a performance collective whose work mainly focuses on comedy and satire, led by Kris Cetinic and Sarah Bergman. The Kris & Sarah Show is a satirical look at reality TV personalities. Their work breaks down the illusion separating the audience from the fake world of reality TV.

Shapeshift
Shapeshift is the creative home of Karen Gee, theatre-maker, writer and movement specialist, where she brings together people and projects. Karen Gee and Susan Kennedy are performing Australian Gothic, a short visual theatre work that explores, through movement, props and a layered soundscape, the relationship between the known and unknown both within ourselves and in the wider world.

Mirielle & Steve
Mirielle Gabriel is a theatre and filmmaker from Western Sydney. Mirielle is a founding member of FAST PRINCESS (2016-2018). Steve Wilson-Alexander is a theatre-maker living on Dharawal land in Wollongong. He is a founding member of re:group performance collective and FAST PRINCESS.
Mirielle & Steve are performing READ, a short performance for two friends living in separate cities. This small and intimate outing of Steve & Mirielle performing together will be to test concept and form for a new re:group project.

Deadfruit Theatre Co
Deadfruit Theatre Co is a collective of Wollongong artists Mish Fry and Clementine de la Hunty. Mish Fry is an actor and theatremaker working with installation, film media and movement. Clementine de la Hunty is an actor, writer and artist. Her work utilises her classical ballet training to incorporate movement and dance into contemporary theatre with a focus on feminism, grief, youth, matrilineality and the macabre. Deadfruit Theatre Co explore the consequences of our past choices in their work Iris.

Jagger Leith
Jagger Leith is a singer-songwriter whose music blends pop, cinematic pop, and rap genres. Jagger is sharing music from his soon-to-be released album.

Pay What You Feel

We want to make it easier to experience new works. So for this event there is no set ticket price. Instead, you simply reserve a spot, show up, then pay what you feel the performance is worth afterwards.

If this is your first time, you will need to sign up. All you need is an email address and a credit or debit card (note – no money is charged to your card.)

3. Pay what you feel. 

After the show, we’ll send you an email asking how much you want to contribute. You choose the amount based on your experience and your circumstances. There is no minimum or maximum amount.

IMPORTANT: Late cancellations within 4 hours of the event or non-attendance will incur a standard $20 ‘no-show’ fee per seat reserved. A non-refundable authorisation charge of 1 cent will be charged if this item is added into your shopping cart. If you do not attend the event, your card will be charged the no-show fee.
