In MERRIGONGX alumni news, Kay Proudlove’s Dear Diary and Hurrah Hurrah’s The Cardinal Rules are going to Sydney Fringe Festival!
These two much loved shows are part of the inaugural Made in Wollongong program, presented in collaboration with MERRIGONGX, which showcases independent works in Sydney Fringe.

Thoroughly relatable humour, staggering humanity…and pushy Aunties from the ancestral plane!
Engulfed by nostalgia, a woman stands at the funeral of a primary school friend that she hasn’t seen in years. As she remembers her 90’s childhood in a close-knit suburban Catholic community, she questions how their lives diverged. When two Aunties from the ancestral plane rupture her sheltered reality, she is forced to re-evaluate her understanding of everything she thought she knew.
An unlikely coming of (middle) age story about facing the uncomfortable realities of the past and living in the present.

Dear Diary by Kay Proudlove
A hilarious, nostalgic and sometimes painful revisiting of our former selves, Dear Diary asks us to look at what we hold onto and when it’s the right time to let them go, if ever.
A soundtrack for what we were, what we are and what we will be, journey into Kay’s early 2000’s teenage diaries through a collection of intimate and vulnerable stories & songs. From first kisses, girl power, spice world, and fan fiction to lost gigs, found memories and frayed friendships. This show is a hilarious, nostalgic and sometimes painful revisiting of our former selves, delving into the pressures and expectations of growing up. With wry humour and confessional stories, Dear Diary asks us to look at what we hold onto and when it’s the right time to let them go, if ever.
