The Band Played On – The Music Played on the RMS Titanic

Sat 13 Apr

A night on the Titanic recreated.

On the 10th of April 1912, the RMS Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage.

Nearly 110 years later the story and the legend of the very brief voyage of the Titanic has continued to grow and fascinate every generation since.

One of the legends of the Titanic is that of the musicians – the band that continued to play on deck while the ship sank around them in order to help provide peace and calm in a time that was anything but.

In the intimate setting of The Music Lounge, Vov Dylan and members of The Palace Orchestra recreate the band and the music as played on the Titanic. All musical selections are taken from The White Star Line Songbook – and all pieces are still well known today.

Enjoy period arrangements of numbers including, ‘The Blue Danube’, ‘Humoresque’, ‘The Can Can’, ‘Tales Of Hoffman’, ‘Let Me Call You Sweetheart’, ‘Ave Maria’ and ‘Nearer My God To Thee’ (the fabled very last number).

The Band Played On is peppered with anecdotes and stories. You’ll want to sway, laugh, sing and dance along to the melodies – as the world’s most famous cruise ship has its show, party and cafe Orchestra recreated for you.
