The Australian Ballet On Tour

The Australian Ballet is coming to Wollongong with a breathtaking program that blends classical favourites, signature works, and bold contemporary innovation.

In partnership with The Australian Ballet School, the program will showcase highlights from The Australian Ballet’s extensive repertoire, including the dazzling Allegro Brillante by George Balanchine, alongside the pas de deux from Diamonds in Jewels.

Act II of The Nutcracker will have audiences feeling the festive spirit early, while Lucy Guerin’s new work, Ground Control, will make its exclusive premiere.

Perfect for both existing ballet lovers and those discovering the magic of ballet for the first time.

Class on Tour

Class on Tour offers a rare opportunity to watch The Australian Ballet (TAB) dancers take their morning class on stage from the comfort of the theatre auditorium.

With live commentary from The Australian Ballet’s artistic staff, audiences will gain insight into how each exercise helps dancers prepare for a performance. This free event provides both entertainment for the public and invaluable tips for aspiring dancers.

Target Audience: General community
Estimated Audience: ~100 per session (usually capped at 150 registrations, with some no-shows anticipated)

Matinee Post-Performance Talk

Directly after the matinee performance, audience members are invited to stay in their seats for an exclusive post-show chat featuring two leading Australian Ballet dancers and a member of the Artistic Staff.

Date & Time: Wednesday, 25 June (post-matinee performance)
Target Audience: General community (must be ticket holders to the matinee performance)
Estimated Audience: ~250 per session
Duration: 10–15 minutes
Participation: FREE – must be a ticket holder to the matinee performance

Youth Masterclass

Young dancers have the unique opportunity to take a ballet class taught by artistic staff from The Australian Ballet. These prestigious classes take place on the same stage where The Australian Ballet performs, offering an unforgettable experience.

Venue: IMB Theatre, IPAC Wollongong
Date & Time: Wednesday, 25 June, 4:30 PM – 5:45 PM
Target Audience: Local dance students aged 13–18 (minimum intermediate/Grade 6 ballet experience)
Estimated Participants: 15–20 per session (capped at 25 students)
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
Participation: Enrolment required, costs apply ($30 per participant)
Note: A minimum of 5 students is required for the class to run.
