Australia’s own Spanish-born, critically-acclaimed flamenco guitarist, Paco Lara presents an evening of Spanish guitar.

Be transported to Southern Spain as Paco Lara and band presents flamenco guitar in all its authenticity, culture, and artistry. Expect impressive articulation with musical elegance and imagination that will enliven the hearts of all music lovers.

Some of the greatest guitar classics from composers including Paco de Lucía, John Williams, Joaquín Rodrigo and Chick Corea will be performed with the unmistakable sound and soul of the flamenco guitar.

Paco Lara is a virtuoso with thirty years of experience touring the world and has accompanied some of Spain’s greatest artists such as Maestro Paco Cepero, Mercedes Ruiz, Isabel Pantoja, and many more. Paco has also been at the vanguard of flamenco fusion with hugely successful groups, El Barrio and Los Delinquentes.

Featuring special guest flamenco dancer, Deya Miranda Giner and fresh from their packed-out concert at the Sydney Opera House, this is an experience not to be missed!

All workshops are held in Wollongong Town Hall


Flamenco Guitar Workshop. 2.30pm

Learn the basic technique, rhythms, and styles of Flamenco guitar in a workshop with Paco Lara. You will also have the opportunity to accompany Paco with your guitar at the dance workshop, where he will explain the musical relationship between dancer and musician.

Paco Lara is an acclaimed flamenco guitarist from the birthplace and cradle of flamenco, Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.


Flamenco Dance Workshop. 3.30pm

At this workshop, you will learn the basic dance structure and a small choreography of the traditional Bulerias dance, which also gives you the opportunity to put everything you’ve learnt from the workshop into practise with the live guitar and singing of the maestro Paco Lara.

This workshop is suitable for all levels.

Deya Miranda is a professional flamenco dancer, and the principal dance instructor at the Newcastle Flamenco Dance School.


Flamenco Cajón Workshop. 2.30pm

If you’ve ever wanted to play a Cajon and learn some funky world rhythms, this is the place to be! With an engaging teaching style, Byron Mark will provide you with technique, traditional and contemporary flamenco rhythms, and fun performance ideas.

Byron Mark is a professional pianist, percussionist, and composer, with 18 years of live performance experience in Australia, and internationally.
