Music in the Morning – Gilbert, Sullivan & The Great Composers

Mon 9 May

Celebrating the hits & highlights of classic musicals

Gilbert and Sullivan were one of the Victorian era’s leading theatrical partnership, producing 14 comic musicals that have endured the decades, including HMS Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado.

Narrated by Chris McKenna and starring Australian Tenor Roy Best, International Soprano Alison Jones, Opera Australia’s Caroline Vercoe, this show packs in all the hits and highlights of the most popular Gilbert & Sullivan musicals.

Adding in hits from other writing duos, including Lerner & Lowe, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Webber & Rice and the Gershwin brothers, this is sure to be an entertaining morning full of laughs. The cast is backed on the grand piano by Australia’s fastest rising concert pianist, William Schmidt.
