Music for Medicine: A Fundraiser Concert for The Flying Doctors

Sat 7 Sep

A Fabulous Night of Music with Vivian Choi Milton & Emerging Concert Artists

Music4Medicine 2023 was described by the Illawarra Mercury as an “unforgettable night of music, flawlessly delivered and perfectly pitched, transcending all borders.” It united the community in a night of extraordinary music and generosity, raising $18000 for Medicine’s Sans Frontieres. For Music4Medicine 2024, we focus on the Royal Flying Doctors Service, a not-for-profit provider offering essential health services to people in regional and outback Australia. Join us for another fabulous night of music that brings the community together in the spirit and joy of giving.

Internationally acclaimed Australian pianist Vivian Choi Milton, joins celebrated Emerging Concert Artists sixteen-year-old Wollongong flautist Annabel Wouters, and Paul Nicolaou, who, at 20, is making his mark on the Australian music scene. They perform music that invites reflection and brings lightness and joy. Composers include Bizet, Clarke, Schocker, Hindson, Debussy, Edwards, Larkin, Albéniz, and Ravel.

Vivian Choi Milton has been praised as “…both daring and clean in her daringness. There is nothing Ms Choi cannot do” by Ned Rorem (Pulitzer Prize-winning composer).

WollCon Flute Ensemble will open the concert with a medley of works.

Paul Nicolaou presents the world premiere of Between Darkness & Light, a musical tribute to the invaluable work of the Royal Flying Doctors composed for the concert by Paul.
