Made From Scratch – September

Sat 14 Sep

A multi-artform performance night offering artists space and support to test new ideas in front of a live audience.

Here, experimentation is key. This event will showcase new works from local artists across performance, dance, visual art, film, stand-up, poetry, music, cabaret and circus.

Line-up:

  • Singer-songwriter Aodhan. This young musician recently won Triple J’s unearthed High Indigenous Initiative with his song When Your Eyes Speak.
  • Live art by Jedd Dimension. Working in hyper abstraction Jedd is a multidisciplinary painter with a passion that stems from graffiti.
  • Drama piece by InCase Projects directed by Justin McCormick. A courageous, bold and challenging company is presenting new work Kindred, blending movement and poetry into a thought-provoking, meditative experience.
  • Engaging, emotional and witty, Kay Proudlove indie-folk singer-songwriter. With a live performance style that is much like being invited into her lounge room, her songs are truly stories set to melody, by turns relatable, humorous and heartbreaking.
  • Ovuhm Collective by Amber Jones & Lucinda Thompson film experimentation.  A visual montage, engaging with ideas of the construction and distortion of one’s identity and the performativity of their gender.
  • Comedy performance piece by theatre and filmmaker Steve Wilson-Alexander with projection, song and a bass guitar.
  • Readings from Solid Air, the first-ever Australian & New Zealand Spoken Word Anthology curated by Anne-Marie Te Whiu.
  • Stand-up, funny man Samwise Hemmings will be our master of ceremonies.
