with Bangarra Dance Theatre dancers
After their welcome return to Wollongong in 2025 with the mesmerising The Light Inside, Bangarra now presents an Australian-exclusive for Merrigong Theatre Company. Drawing from Mirning woman and Bangarra’s Artistic Director and Co-CEO, Frances Rings’ choreographic career, FuturesPast embodies the spirit, artistry, and strength that define Bangarra’s work.
Structured in three acts — Old World, People, and Country — FuturesPast journeys through the significant impacts that have challenged First Nations people, honouring the spirit of resilience that has shaped their survival. Join us as we connect with the past through knowledge and story, to strengthen us for a new future.
Blending dynamic lighting and costume design, FuturesPast carries you from the dawn of time, through a cycle of belonging that transcends generations. This is a showcase of Australia’s finest contemporary dance, rich cultural history, and is a transformative experience for all.
