An eclectic blues-music journey.

Multi-award winning blues act, Backsliders return to Wollongong, showcasing ‘Bonecrunch’, their 15th and most varied album to date. Backsliders are renowned for their energetic and captivating live shows and this promises to be just that. Their riff-based sound blends rural American blues with distinctly Australian lyrical and musical themes.

Celebrated slide guitarist and vocalist, Dom Turner, and drum and percussion virtuoso Rob Hirst joined by young harmonica master, Joe Glover are set to take you on an eclectic blues-music journey.

The latest release (November 2020) ‘Bonecrunch’ is the bands most adventurous recording to date. The 12 tracks represent a band with varied musical influences—swamp-blues feels on ‘Dog in the Fight’ and ‘Tea & Sugar Train’, intense blues riffs on ‘No Know-How’ and ‘Bad Recruit’; surf sounds on ‘Tombstoning’; to the eccentric ‘Obake’ [Ghost] where 1960s Japanese soundtrack music meets dub-reggae.

A note about the venue:
Please note that while we are operating in accordance with the NSW Public Health order, The Music Lounge is a smaller, more intimate venue, and the audience is seated close together.

  • In the hands of these vets the blues element isn’t staid, but is led down different, swampy paths to create something new and, indeed, hopeful. - Sydney Morning Herald
  • The fuzzy guitar and percussion, and warbling harp, are sublime. - Courier Mail
