The Drama Studio presents

Final Draft

This year the theme is Aristotle’s Seven Causes.

28 Jun – 28 Jun

Final Draft is a collaboration between Creative Writing students from the Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts, University of Wollongong, and performance students from The Drama Studio, Illawarra Performing Arts Centre.

Final Draft was established in 2009 by Dr Joshua Lobb from UOW and Fiona Finley from The Drama Studio. It enables emerging writers from UOW’s Creative Writing program to create conditions in which writers can actively engage in the development and production of their work.

We believe that the collaborative process between writer, director and actor combined with the culmination of their work live onstage, allows writers to truly develop their unique voice.

This year the theme is Aristotle’s Seven Causes.

Aristotle said in his book, Rhetoric:

'Thus every action must be due to one or other of seven causes: chance, nature, compulsion, habit, reasoning, anger, or appetite.'

Within this, he notes that all actions are due either to emotion or reason and that we seek pleasant things and act to reduce pain, thus predating Freud’s pleasure-pain principle by over 2000 years.

Suitable for all ages.
