Sydney Youth Orchestra - Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto
Featuring soloist Naoko Keatley
Fast, spectacular and impressive, this performance features SYO alumna and member of the London Symphony orchestra Naoko Keatley.
06 Aug – 06 Aug
Ambitious in structure but not as popular as the Ninth Symphony “From the New World”, many critics consider the 7th Symphony to be the composer’s greatest and an important example of the development of the symphonic genre post-Beethoven.
Inspired by Brahms’ 3rd Symphony, Dvorak’s seventh great orchestral work was fortuitously supported by a commission from the Philharmonic Society of London.
This sombre and dramatic work, filled with Dvorak’s meanderings of the soul, is balanced in this program with the fresh and dazzling Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, a favourite of the virtuosic instrumental repertoire.
Fast, spectacular and impressive, but allowing a soloist to also demonstrate their sensitive side, this performance features SYO alumna and member of the London Symphony orchestra Naoko Keatley.
Please note: There will be a 20 minute lockout at the commencement of the performance.
