Workshop: Make a set and create a story
School Holiday Workshop with Imogen Ross
Introduction to basic model making and set design for young designers aged 9 - 12 years.
06 Jul – 06 Jul
Set Design is all about telling a story with pictures and 3D shapes, enabling an audience to see AND feel the dramatic space around the performers.
Model Making is the craft of making small scale ‘dolls-house’ sized replicas of the imagined space.
Using storybooks as the starting point, theatre designer Imogen Ross (Diary of a Wombat, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie) will guide students through the imaginative process of creating a set that creates the ‘feeling’ of a story as well as the location.
Students are asked to bring along a favourite picture book or fairy-tale that inspires them.
PVA glues, scissors, rulers, and paint will be used during the workshop – please wear clothing that can cope with mess.
