Clown Through Costume Design Workshop
School Holiday Workshop
A fun and informative costume design workshop for young people
18 Apr – 18 Apr
Do you like clowning around, doing 'silly walks' and having a big bottom?
Do you want to see how a 'sad clown' works and feel the power of a mask?
This is a fun interactive workshop that explores visual and physical methods that can help to create a comic character from the feet up.
Using a range of different clothing accessories, hats, props and masks as the stimulus, award winning designer theatre designer Imogen Ross (Diary of a Wombat, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie) will help young performers build upon their own physicality and develop a distinct body language through costume and mask. Children will explore different characterisation possibilities, create interactive scenes together and use physical improvisation to discover what makes visual comedy funny.
Students are asked to bring along a favourite costume accessory, a clean pair of socks and 1-2 hats/scarves/beanies (different styles) to the workshop for their own use.
