Angela's Kitchen

By Paul Capsis & Julian Meyrick

An astonishing, evocative piece of autobiographical theatre from one of Australia's finest performers.

28 Aug – 01 Sep

In Angela's Kitchen, Paul Capsis tells the raw and honest story of a journey that begins with one woman, and becomes a portrait of a whole generation.

In 1948, Angela left Malta. Having gathered up her five children, she sailed out on the Strathnavar, leaving poverty and the war behind. Her destination: Australia. Many years later, back in Malta, someone else has made a journey. Making his way along Kalkara's glistening harbourside, a young man with flowing black hair has returned to claim his past. Paul Capsis is walking home.

Receiving rapturous response from Sydney critics and audiences alike on its premiere, now after a triumphant return season, two time Helpmann Award-winner Paul Capsis and celebrated director Julian Meyrick bring us this intimate and incredibly personal one man show.

"At the end, he shares his most precious memories with the audience, many of whom were holding back tears. Deeply affecting theatre." - Sun Herald
